What we’re doing
About us
A few members of Umfrevillagers WhatsApp group got together to see what we could do about the trees on our road. We’d like more of them.
How we’ll get the trees
We’re working with Haringey Council, which is part of the Trees for Streets scheme.
With the council subsidy of around £500, each tree costs us about £295. 10 trees and a bunch of people watering would cost us £2,950 and make the road look a whole lot more lovely.
Most of all, we’re going to need your help.
That could be through donations, coming up with fund raising ideas or just giving us a hand.
Why we’re doing it
We think trees make the road look nicer.
There are lots of other benefits too. Trees for Streets say that trees in our towns:
create shade and cooling
absorb air pollution
capture carbon
protect us from flooding
encourage calm and careful driving
reduce litter and fly-tipping
improve our health and wellbeing

Changed the cost of each tree from £250 to £295 so it includes some watering by the council. Added in council subsidy of about £500.
Changed the target number of trees to 10 following council survey and submission of objections and to make it a round number.
Changed the target amount to £2,950.
