£135 of small change
How Antoinette and Umfrevillagers dug deep to boost the tree fund

Dear Umfrevillagers, I am so delighted to see all the donations for the tree fund and hope people aren't sick and tired of the subject! When I was "cashing up" after the plant sale it occurred to me that we all have pots of small change that accumulate around the house and that if I came round with a bucket, that would be a great way of getting some more cash together without imposing on all your generosity. Maybe (weather permitting) I could do a door knock on Sunday. Thoughts?

I can't believe that just three people's copper jars have accumulated 6.5 kg of brass! I have left the bucket behind my front door so feel to pop by with your loose change if you want. I will then do a door knock on Sunday around midday.

I spent a couple of hours last night bagging up coins whilst watching trash TV (MAFS is back, yay!) and there's already £50 waiting to be banked, so thanks to all the contributions received so far. Special mention for Oonagh whose haul alone was over £20! For everyone else, please dig out your change jar and either put it through my door at no.70 or wait for me to come round with my bucket tomorrow lunchtime. PS there are some new plants outside my door today if you want to take a look.

An update on the change haul for the tree fund. The big pile was from the first tranche and came in at £60 with the smaller pile boosting the final haul to well over a £100! I think it's more, but I lost track. So thanks everyone! Now I just have to find a bank that will actually cash them up!

I had to concede defeat and use the blasted Coinstar machine to cash up the change for the tree fund. I'm afraid I couldn't justify the time and cost of taking it all into Central London. The machine also wasn't happy to take £2 coins and so I got back £1.52 for it!!!!! I'm seething but it is what it is.
So, I got £128.57 for the change, plus rounded up to £135 to include £6 in £2 coins.
